Blog #10 Medusa by Louise Bogan (reflections)
When I read the poem "Medusa" it made it more interesting to me, because the author describes that Medusa is a woman with snakes on her hair and she also turns someone to stone by looking at her or staring. Most of the readers thinks that the author created Medusa as a part of the Greek mythology. Even though, the Medusa is a dangerous creature or a monster, but I would believe that the story was great. Besides, the author provided some stanzas in order to interpret the story. However, at the end of the stanzas of the poem, that author became to stone for a long time because of Medusa's eye contact, then his eyes in on the "yellow dust" which means that dust is poison and it doesn't go away. The story was great somehow, even though the author had a great description of Medusa which was excited in the Greek mythology. I would recommend this poem to a friend of mine, because the poem is amazing to describe what is that monster looks like to anyone especially the readers.

Blog #9 Haiku poems by some several writers (reflections)
What I think about reading a haiku poem, it really got my interest because I am interested in the Japanese culture. However writing haiku poems can be short, even though it ends with 17 syllables. My favorite haiku poem of this course's textbook is "Heat-lightning streak" and "In the old stone pool" by Matsuo Basho. What I find and read his poems I feel almost like it refreshes my mind after reading that poem. Furthermore, the haiku poems are designed for readers to read these poems and cleanse their minds. The "Heat-lighting streak poem got me that far from reading it and the words just opened my mind it says "Heat-lightning streak through darkness pierces the heron's shriek." The quote makes it simple because Matsuo is writing a poem by 17 syllables in order to finish the last sentence. By any chance, I would recommend one of the haiku poems to my friend, because it would be interesting for him to read and write a poem like this one.
Blog #8 A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner (reflections)
Ever since in the first few weeks of the semester, I read a short story of "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner. I find that the story and the plot is very tragic just like Oedipus the King by Sophocles, and also I find that its all about death. Emily is living with a lot of regrets of her past, since her father died and left everything including the house to his one and only daughter. Besides she caused severe pain because there were many unfortunate events that happened to her. First she felt sad about her loss, second, she acts like she is strong, but to me she is faking because her lover betrayed her. And lastly she just died in vain at her old age. To me, I find this story very interesting, although reading some dark stories like this one is my forte. I would recommend this short story to my friend because there are many reasons why does Emily felt that way to regret her life.

Blog #7 "Oedipus the King" by: Sophocles (reflections)
On the other day, the instructor assigned us to read a long play called "Oedipus the King", and I find it very long to read. And once I'm analyzing the play for the essay, it drives me crazy. First of all, the townspeople depends on Oedipus' aid because he is the only one who can protect the people of his country. But somehow there are many misunderstanding throughout the play. So there is a guy named Teiresias and he kept his mouth shut to hide the truth to Oedipus about the killer who murdered Laious, but Oedipus felt betrayed by Teiresias because it caused conflict and he thinks that he is cursed. (Just according to my critical analysis essay) One of the parts of the story that the author used is irony because Oedipus felt that he has done wrong about accusing his friends. But my question is how does he want to rule his kingdom with that kind of excuse? I'd say to me that this is a very shocking story to read and I can't even believe that I'm reading this piece of fudge eating spaghetti which I don't understand what the hell is going on with the characters of the play. I am not going to tell a friend about that story, because this is the worst story I've ever read.

Blog #6 "Cinderella" by Anne Sexton (reflections)
Last week, the instructor assigned us to read a long poetry called "Cinderella". Well first of all, the Cinderella story maybe a myth, but in future generations some people provided some comparison from the original one. Even though, it was shown on a Disney animated movie, but the setting is different than the original poem.
Ok, so Anne Sexton started with a few stanzas and what happened is that she wrote any different stories or poems and jumped to one idea to the other before starting the real story of Cinderella. Although, the sentence always ends with "That story" by ending a conclusion. The difference about the author's story "Cinderella", somehow there is a father on the story, but in the movie does not have a father. However, my concern was that Cinderella planted a twig next to the white dove, the white dove is important to her because it belonged to her mother. Upon the dove, she wished for anything for the dove to drop an egg on the ground. I don't really get it, I mean is the dove is really more important than the Prince?! I'll reveal it. When Cinderella went to the ball room, he met the prince. They spent time together until they got married. And "That story" is the Cinderella story, I would not prefer this type of poem to a girl or a girl that I like, because that poem is tearing us apart comparing to this original poem and the Disney movie.
