Last week, the instructor assigned us to read a long poetry called "Cinderella". Well first of all, the Cinderella story maybe a myth, but in future generations some people provided some comparison from the original one. Even though, it was shown on a Disney animated movie, but the setting is different than the original poem.
Ok, so Anne Sexton started with a few stanzas and what happened is that she wrote any different stories or poems and jumped to one idea to the other before starting the real story of Cinderella. Although, the sentence always ends with "That story" by ending a conclusion. The difference about the author's story "Cinderella", somehow there is a father on the story, but in the movie does not have a father. However, my concern was that Cinderella planted a twig next to the white dove, the white dove is important to her because it belonged to her mother. Upon the dove, she wished for anything for the dove to drop an egg on the ground. I don't really get it, I mean is the dove is really more important than the Prince?! I'll reveal it. When Cinderella went to the ball room, he met the prince. They spent time together until they got married. And "That story" is the Cinderella story, I would not prefer this type of poem to a girl or a girl that I like, because that poem is tearing us apart comparing to this original poem and the Disney movie.
Cinderella is a myth to give people some kind of hope or something to look foward too. I do have to agree with you that this story is killing the real story because of how sarcastic the author is. She wants to let us know that there is no suck thing as cinderella. I also agree that there are a lot of changes in Anne story as well like the white dove and the father.
