Blog #8 A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner (reflections)
Ever since in the first few weeks of the semester, I read a short story of "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner. I find that the story and the plot is very tragic just like Oedipus the King by Sophocles, and also I find that its all about death. Emily is living with a lot of regrets of her past, since her father died and left everything including the house to his one and only daughter. Besides she caused severe pain because there were many unfortunate events that happened to her. First she felt sad about her loss, second, she acts like she is strong, but to me she is faking because her lover betrayed her. And lastly she just died in vain at her old age. To me, I find this story very interesting, although reading some dark stories like this one is my forte. I would recommend this short story to my friend because there are many reasons why does Emily felt that way to regret her life.
